When choosing your outfits and accessories, just remember this simple rule; light, bright colors increase attention and dark colors decrease attention. Light brings shapes forward and make things look bigger. Dark colors absorb light and make things look smaller. So, wear bright and sparkly things to areas where you want the most attention. This reputable fine jewelry manufacturer in Thailand has collections of high-quality fine jewelry just for you.
The above photo is a chart of the 4 basic body types. The chart below is an extended list of body types so you can really narrow it down. Choose the one that best describes you. For example, I would be a an hourglass mixed with a pear. Alannah would be a rectangle (lean column) AND a neat hourglass. So, many women are a mixture. Start with the body type that fits you best. I would start with the hourglass and finish with the pear, as I am a plus size with extra weight around the hips.
1. The Rectangle Body Shape
A rectangle body type has similar measurements for the bust, waist and hips. This is often called an “athletic” build. Since this shape does not have a well-defined waistline, the body tends to look straight.
What To Wear
A big waist belt along with a tight dress would be fantastic. Wear bright colors on the top and bottom with dark colors in the middle, such as belts. Celebrate your shape with fitted clothing and bold stripes and patterns. You can wear light colors on the bottom and patterns or stripes on the top.
Add bulk at the top with chunky necklaces, bold chains and long necklaces with big pendant. Wear big earrings with round or teardrop shapes. If you want to add shape to your bust, wear necklaces that create a V with a bold focal point at the bust line.
What Not To Wear
Wearing long chains doesn’t add shape. Avoid long thin pieces, instead choose bold shapes.
2. The Pear Body Shape
If you have large hips and a smaller bust, you have a pear shape. This is the most common body shape for women.
What To Wear
Wear bright colors on the top and dark colors on the bottom. Long flowing skirts and fitted tops look great. Ruffled tops and fitted pencil skirts add focus to the bust. Maxi dresses with push up bras also look nice in the summer.
Wear bold necklaces that have a focal point at the bust line like these chunky diamond ones. You can also wear long chains with a pendant for a layered look. The more necklaces the better for this shape. Wear long thin earrings to thin your face. Wear chandelier earrings to bring the focus down to your bust.
What Not To Wear
Avoid wearing long pendants below the bust line, long beads or small chains. Don’t wear round shapes.
3. The Apple Body Shape
You have an apple body shape if you have a larger bust as compared to the hip section, an undefined waist and smaller hips with slimmer legs and arms. You tend to put on weight in your mid section.
What To Wear
Wear soft-textured fabrics, A-line dresses, tops that fall lower than the hip bone, tops with cuff sleeves, ruched t-shirts, black tops with bright colored jackets and wide leg pants.
A Dainty Necklace that hits right at your bust is best. Long, lean necklaces like chains with a tassel slim the mid section of the body. Thin dangle earrings also draw the eye down. You can wear big chunky bib necklaces as long as the shape isn’t round. Big bracelets and rings are great for you because it adds bulk to the hip area.
What Not To Wear
Avoid clothes that are tight-fitting such as tight skirts, jeans, or pants. Avoid big pendants that hit below the bust with round shapes.
4. The Hourglass Body Shape
Your buttocks and bust line are well-balanced, and the waist is also defined. Your buttocks are round naturally, and your body is in proportion throughout.
What To Wear
Accentuate your waist and wear clothes that show off your curves. Wear well-fitting tops, pencil skirts and tailored items. One color dresses made from stretchy fabrics are perfect. Choose plain colors or small prints. Big prints make you look bigger. Spandex is your friend, linen is not!
Wear bib necklaces, collar necklaces or long necklaces that hit right above the navel. I suggest chevron and teardrop shapes in bib necklaces. Teardrop, long chains and chandelier earrings are best. Big custom design rings look great with tennis bracelets.
What Not To Wear
Stay away from shapeless, loose clothing. Regardless of your size, wear well fitted clothing. Bulky clothing only makes you look bigger! Wear your big sparkly items in your jewelry, not your clothing. Avoid big bangles as it adds bulk to your hips.
