DIY Burned Fabric Flowers

Summer is here! Flowers are always a lovely fashion statement this time of year. These flowers are cheap and easy to make. You can add them to jewelry, bags, shoes, hats, pillows, wreaths and more. Here’s what you will need to get started:

SUPPLIES

Hot Glue

Glue Gun

Candle

Scissors

Synthetic fabric such as satin, polyester, etc. *Natural fabrics won’t melt, they will just catch on fire!

OPTIONAL: Decorations such as buttons, pearls, clip earrings, etc.

DIRECTIONS

Cut fabric into squares.
Cut circles from small to large.
Fold the circle in half.
Cut into sections.
Round the edges.
You can make different shapes.
Melt the edges of the petals by holding it over a candle.
Redo the edges you missed.
They don’t need to be uniform.
Glue the layers in the center, large to small.
Glue a decoration in the center.

I bought the vintage purses for $25 on ebay in a lot. I used fabric scraps I already had. I have a TON of flowers, fabric and all kinds of stuff to make headbands, etc. If you need anything, let me know. It will just cost a few dollars for postage. Here are some of the items I made using this technique.

Flowers glued on to a purse and a headband.
Flowers glued to a fascinator hat.
Flowers glued to a headband with netting and a brooch.
Flowers and broken vintage jewelry glued on to purses and hair scrunchies.
Flowers and ribbon glued on to a $10 hat.

This is so fun and so simple. Let me know how you are doing and if you need any help. I’m always here buying and selling jewelry. Have a great month and I will see you in July!

Stay sparkly!
