Mass Appeal’s
FASHION TIPS WITH MALENA CHIPPS
Episode 3
*Please excuse the Kathleen Turner voice. I was sick with the flu today.
Today is September 11th. It is a day of remembrance for our country. One good thing that came from this horrible tragedy was, our country came together for a while. There was no left or right. For a time, we were all just Americans, ready to help each other however we could. Remember when wearing your patriotic apparel, everyone is an American.

On patriotic days remember that it is very uncouth to judge someone by who they choose to vote for. They believe that philosophy because they think that would make our country better and for no other reason. Practicing on non judgement is very patriotic! Let us all remember we are Americans first and political affiliation comes second. At the end of the day we all want what is best for our country.
Okay, onward to the fall fashion lesson….

Fall is my favorite season. It’s a great time to wear bold, saturated colors and bold jewelry. Anytime you want to wear vibrant colors you want to keep it down to two bold colors with one accent color. This way you look good for real life, not like you’re on top of a parade float. Today on Mass Appeal we will show you what jewelry to wear with bold color combinations. For example one of my favorite color combinations is red white and blue. When wearing red and blue accent those colors with white or off-white. With navy blue, accent your look with red jewelry or a red scarf.

Another color combination that’s always couture is green and blue in any shade.

Pink and green is a very fashionable color combination.

Accent those two colors with cream or white, not black.
You can also accent strong colors with jewelry.
- Gold or silver jewelry both work very well with red white and blue.
- Silver is best with purple and green.
- Gold is best with green and blue.
- Gold is best with with pink and green.
Don’t add more colors or stones for daytime looks when you are wearing bold colors!
An old-fashioned rule is to match your hem line with your shoes and your jewelry with your buttons. I personally agree with that even for modern fashion. When you are wearing vibrant colors you want to keep your hosiery neutral. Don’t wear black hosiery with vibrant colors if you already have 2 colors on! If you choose black hosiery you need to combine black into your color combining. As shown in the photo with the green and black outfit. By sticking with two vibrant colors and one accent color you won’t look overdone or like you got ready in the dark.
Scarves are a wonderful accessory for women over the age of 35. Headwear such as scarves worn as headbands or barrettes or jeweled headbands are great for women under 35. I hope this is helpful. Feel free to send me suggestions for what you want to see on the show.
Thanks for watching!
